Background Information

Professional profile:

I have been a consultant in anaesthesia and critical care since 1998. I am one of a team working to provide the highest standard of perioperative care to our patients, before, during and after their visit to the operating theatre. This includes pre-operative assessment clinics, acute pain services, a 365 day a year on call service, and critical care support if this is required. The team provide support to almost all types of surgery. Though practicing and proficient in all areas we cover, I have a special interest in the care of patients undergoing major abdominal surgery including both open and minimally invasive. A lot of my clinical work in Portsmouth takes place in the Critical Care Unit, which is regarded and outcomes show to be one of the best in its comparator group, with an international reputation for training. I am currently Director of Education for Portsmouth Hospitals.

Personal profile:

A keen sportsman in my spare time with current favourites being road cycling and open water swimming.
